  1. I wish I would have known you were doing this. I restyled this site over a year ago to make a personal point that there was no excuse. It took like 3 or 4 hours. Anyway, I could have saved you a lot of time. Good job. P.S. favicon
  2. I replied to your pm to me many days ago. I didn't approve you because NGQ is cancelled. It will officially expire on Nov 12 but, I am probably going to shut it down from the front end much sooner. Honestly, I don't understand how you were able to register in the first place. I pointed my registration form to quakeone easily a week before you registered. @lack of community interest It's not only that. My interests in life have nothing to do with quake. I'm currently programming ARM microcontrollers and all peripherals from the ground up (no libraries except mandatory c library and microcontroller boot library). It's far more rewarding and has far greater potential for doing something that is actually useful. I've always wanted to build a device of my own but, I never knew where to even begin. In these days of Arduino's and Raspberry Pi's the information is abundant. However, I am not using any premade SBC. My project is being built up from the microcontroller on handmade PCB's. 149 tutorials later I am hella confident in what I am doing. I could probably even stop watching tutorials at this point. I can read data sheets with understanding and translate the data to errorless C. There is no reason why I can't figure out everything on my own. I kind of like watching how people approach things differently, though.
  3. Yes and no. Technically my "everything app" was capable of this BUT I never publicly released it and I have no intention of ever doing so. Even my app that was the precursor and inspiration to the "everything app" had this ability. It would not be complicated for you to make it yourself. Simply make a script that traverses all of the appropriate directories for quaddicted's file dump, add an extension filter so it will only get (ex) .zip files and use a NetStream or language equivalent to copy the files to a local directory. If you know your stuff you could probably spin this script in 50 lines or less. You could even probably copy/paste the entire script together from tutorials that explain the individual parts and make very simple customizations, like pointing the script at quaddicted. Don't use JavaScript. The cross origin requests will fight you the entire way without some tricky PHP, and at that point the JavaScript is a useless layer. I mean, you could use JS but, you would have to get the info as the entire page HTML and use an XML parser to parse out all the href properties of the a tag. That by itself is probably more code than the entire thing by not doing it that way.
  4. I don't think anybody is looking all over the web for where to play. There are plenty of established servers that numerous members have been playing at for years. I'm not saying that nobody wants to check out your server. I'm just saying that it is highly unlikely that there is some notable amount of people looking for Quake servers. This fact is further evidenced by the fact that most of the time the well-known/established servers are empty. If you can do better than 4 sentences about it you can come post on my site regarding your server and probably get a lot more attention. I don't know if you noticed but, this place is not maintained, active or popular. NextGenQuake.com Registration at my site is not automatic. I have to approve you (and I will ... maybe immediately, if you register while I am near a computer). It's like that cause I have a zero spam policy and it is very effective. @better than 4 sentences Do you have a logo? What mod is your server running? What is the map rotation? What is the connection address? Do you have scheduled games/tournaments? If so, what is the schedule? 4 sentences and a discord link is as good as saying "ignore me". It's just true. You have to drag people in with content and info, bro. The more legit you make your post is the more legit you will look. Which one of these do you think would be more successful? #1 I made a thing click or #2 I invented a new product. It's fucking awesome. Here are some of the features: 1) a feature 2) the next feature 3) another feature 4) extra feature My product is only available til A_DATE so, I wouldn't waste a bunch of time if you have an interest in it. You can click here to see the product in action right now or go to our facebook page and see what others are saying. We offer a 90 day money back guarantee with no questions asked cause we know you will be satisfied. Thank you for taking the time to consider my product. Edit: I just noticed that you posted an event schedule as a different thread. Bad decision. That info should be in THIS post. Now, aside from everything I just said you are spreading all of your info around and there is no way for you to be guaranteed that your audience has all of the info. All of your data should be collected into one thread and however much of it that never changes should all be in the original post. Imagine if I gave you the top half of a flier for a gig my band is playing and you had to hear it from some 3rd party that the other half of the flier is somewhere down the street. Now imagine that the half that is down the street is the part that says when and where my band is playing. This is common sense, brother. I know I'm raw. I don't mean you any harm. I'm trying to help you but, at the same time it seems kind of silly to me that you think "ripping up your low-info band flier and throwing it in the air" is some kind of excellent plan. Let there be no doubt ... you have a product but, you are treating it like a "to be continued" classified ad with a letter budget.
  5. You could compile your map with tyrUtils ~ ericw (click compilers tab) using the bsp2 switch. However, what you want is at odds with itself. You can't have large maps and mass compatibility. If you want large maps your compatibility will be with 3 or so engines. If you want more engines you can't have large maps. That could be argued, though. What is your idea of large? You can pack a lot into the original quake limits if you just fill up the entire allowed area from end to end on all 3 axis. Using teleporters you can "disorient" the player so they never realize they are working their way through a cube. Using some really tricky ent manipulation you could even send players back to an area they were already in but, have it look different due to walls being moved, stairs appearing and leading to something previously unlit, and other such manipulations. It's nice to want to support as many engines as possible but there are only 4 that are the most commonly used. Quakespasm, FitzQuake MarkV, FTEQW and Darkplaces. You can check out all of those engines and more here.
  6. lol! Too much sugar in the cereal.
  7. This site has been like this for 2 years. It would be great if Quakeone came back, but at some point you have to realize that the chances are slim to none. Having Phenom take over is a great idea. It was a great idea to let him help fix the site 2 years ago.
  8. That's why I made this over a year ago. There are no problems at all posting screenshots or media of any kind for that matter. You can embed stuff from something like 200 sources ... even Scribd documents and other such things. That's like 1% of the overall power of my site. Quakeone has people complaining about how shitty it is while the people from Quakeone that have made their way to my site never complain again. No spam, fully styled and so many features that this site was never in a state to compare. It's just true. My haters may not like it but, there isn't a Quake forum on the entire internet that can compete with mine in functionality, possibility and freedom. I have a fake Google docs, a fake Google drive, you can read the site in 104 languages, build your own groups, build your own forums, image galleries, embed anything with nothing but the link, no spam as in ZERO POINT ZERO spam, a functional but "cheap" chatroom, most pages can be converted to a fully styled PDF with the click of a link, user profiles with lots of customization features, activity threads, documented shortcodes for a very wide array of formatting and effects... the list goes on and on. There is no competition, period.
  9. I approved you. I hope you didn't wait too long. It doesn't tell me the time you registered.
  10. I have to manually approve you if you sign up, and I will but, I just wanted you to know so, if it takes me a lil time to get to it you don't start thinking I don't care or something. I try to check the registration logs twice a day and then make decisions on which sign-ups are spam.
  11. I'm not sure how you made that happen but, I just opened my site in chrome and it is perfect. Maybe you went to my site at the same time I was updating some plugins or something. Just FYI, Talisa does not update the QuakeOne version of this thread anymore due to a lack of confidence in the state and future of this site. However, Talisa and qazzaq update the NextGenQuake version of this thread constantly. I also made a mistake. Talisa has a lot of threads on my site regarding texture/model replacements. The link I posted is not for the AD stuff. Here is a complete list of all of her threads with the AD one on top. http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/arcane-dimensions-hd-overhaul/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/hd-textures-for-sp-maps/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/hexen-ii-hd-models-fteqw/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/drake-mod-hd-models/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/hd-modelstextures-for-quoth/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/darkplaces-the-definitive-hd-replacement-content-list/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/triple-skins-for-id1-monsters-smc/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/multiple-skins-for-hi-poly-monsters-smc/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/rogue-my-keys-explosives-for-rogue/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/right-handed-sg-ssg-requires-smc/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/axe-why-not-sword/ http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/real-nailguns-for-quake/ Edit: To make absolutely sure, I downloaded and installed the latest chrome. There are no issues like your picture depicts [img2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/49mWx5O.png"}[/img2]
  12. An upgraded and heavily expanded list of all these textures is on my forum http://www.nextgenquake.com/topic/hd-textures-for-sp-maps/
  13. Use FTE. Darkplaces is not the only engine that supports HD replacement content. It's arguably not even the best engine for replacement content.
  14. @Quakeone.com is now spam free again. Hardly. SPAM-post free and SPAM free are very different things. There is an easy way to fix a lot of this. You need a honeypot. A honeypot is a form field that is invisible to users but not invisible to bots on the registration page. Bots tend to fill out everything so, if the honeypot field is filled out it's a bot and registration is denied. It would take minutes for a competent programmer to add this to this site. An invisible html form field and an extra PHP condition where the registration data is being sent. To take it a step further, have IP's banned for any registrar that filled out the honeypot. Making a site SPAM free is mostly very easy. Some bots are smarter than others but, a honeypot can go a looooooong way in removing spam.
